Between 2017 and 2019, a series of high level exercises rehearsed the world's response to a pandemic. Event 201 was held in October 2019 by the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security with the World Economic Forum and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. SPARS was a 2017 Johns Hopkins communication scenario. Crimson Contagion was a 2019 federal exercise run through Health and Human Services.
